The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards son concedidos anualmente por la Broadcast Film Critics Association honrando el mejor logro cinematográfico.
La Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) es la mayor organización de críticos de cine en los Estados Unidos y Canadá, representando a más de 300 críticos de la televisión, radio y medios online. La Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) es una organización asociada a la BFCA que incluye periodistas de televisión, radio e Internet que cubren la televisión regularmente.
Este año se han unido con la Broadcast Television Journalists Association para celebrar por primera vez una ceremonia conjunta los 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards.
Debido a esta fusión para las nominaciones de las categorías de television solo fueron eligibles los programas emitidos entre el 1 de junio y el 31 de diciembre de 2015. En mayo se celebraron los 5th Critics’ Choice Television Awards, que tenían en cuenta los programas emitidos del 1 de 2014 hasta el 31 de mayo de 2015. Los ganadores se revelaron el 17 de Enero de 2016, en una ceremonia en Santa Monica, California. Emitida en directo por la cadena de televisión A&E, el maestro de ceremonia fue el actor y cómico T.J. Miller.
